VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - As of 7/10/2010, my email has changed. If you click the contact link in the left sidebar, it will show up correctly, but if you are visiting my site to see why an email kicked back, it is because it is now storywitch@storywitch.com. Sorry for any inconvenience! I had the same email for about eight years, so it's going to take a little time to work out all the snags. Thanks for your patience and perseverance!
Now, on to the normal business. Thank you for visiting my website! First, let me give you the tour of how to find out more information about my work. On this home page, after you get through this introduction, you'll find the latest news on my current and upcoming releases. You can visit the Books Available or series-specific links to the left for free excerpts and blurbs to learn more about the stories themselves.
On the Short Stories link, you can read short pieces that I've written over the years. You can judge whether or not my storytelling has improved any - I hope so (smile) - but regardless, I'm still very fond of these early works, which is why I like having them here to share with you as freebies.
If you choose the Subscribe to Newsletter link on the left, you'll get monthly updates on what's happening with my books; where I'll be appearing both online and in person; a chance to win signed books or other good things; and the occasional early peek excerpt for an upcoming release. You only get one issue a month, and of course you can unsubscribe at any time. I do NOT give your email away to anyone.
Now, if you really enjoy my work, the place to go when you've exhausted your curiosity here is the Joey W. Hill fan forum. Why? Because you'll find direct interviews with my characters, discussions about past, present and future releases, more contest opportunities, additional early peek excerpts and deleted scenes, and free vignettes featuring characters from my full length works. We've just concluded a nine-part sizzling visit with Mason and Jessica from Beloved Vampire. That vignette is called "Taking the Gloves Off". You'll also find an eleven-part segment with Tyler and Marguerite of Ice Queen, and a delightful baby shower for Violet and Mac of Natural Law. I've also done a four-part segment about Lyssa and her former servant Thomas (from Vampire Queen's Servant). And around Christmas, I'll start one about David and Mina of A Witch's Beauty!
Best of all, the forum is overflowing with wonderful folks like yourself that I'm grateful to have supporting my stories, and you can choose to lurk or interact with them as much as you wish. You'll also see me flit in and out during the week, making comments here and there (there's also a place for you to leave specific questions for me). About a month after each release, the moderators host a "Book Club Night", where you have me for two dedicated hours to informally talk about the latest release and whatever other questions you have. So I hope you'll explore my site here, visit the forum, learn more about my stories and characters, and enjoy the heck out of doing so (smile).
Note: You can visit the forum without logging in, but you must create a logon to see the past vignette and excerpt sections, as well as to post. Don't worry - that just requires a valid email address and a password, a process that takes half a minute at most. Email me if you have any trouble!
Which leads to the final note before we get into the latest release/work in process info. If ever you want to email me directly about anything, feel free to click on the Contact Joey link, also on the left sidebar. I welcome feedback, good or bad about my stories, and I love to hear from readers. You can also find me on Facebook under Joey Woody Hill, or follow my notices on Twitter under Joey W. Hill.
Okay, that's the tour. As promised, here's the general status on things:
Most Recent and Upcoming Releases...
Vampire Trinity (September 7, 2010) Gideon's story is here! Jacob's brother, introduced in Mark of the Vampire Queen as a cynical hardcore vampire hunter, now has his own story - in two books! Vampire Mistress released May 2010 and the sequel, Vampire Trinity, releases in September. This story is my first menage love story (m/m/f). Check out the summary and excerpt under the Vampire Queen series link.
Vampire's Keeper (July 5, 2011) - Due to problems managing the vampire "children" you met in Vampire’s Claim, Elisa, an Irish maid who's a second-marked servant in Lady Danny's household, will need to travel to an island off the U.S coast. There she'll work with a reclusive vampire, a Native American of mixed blood, turned during the era of the Trail of Tears, who operates a wild cat sanctuary and is uniquely suited to "tame" the children down. As well as heal the wounds in Elisa's heart.
Branded Sanctuary (February 12, 2010) - This is the long awaited story of Brendan and Chloe, from the Nature of Desire series. You may recall they were popular secondary characters from Mirror of My Soul. Chloe’s been having some trouble getting over her traumatic experience from that book, and Brendan is the perfect, sensitive hero to restore her confidence and joie de vivre again. Of course Marguerite and Tyler will help facilitate in a number of provocative ways...
Laced with Desire (February 2, 2010) - The Unlaced anthology has been so popular the publisher has brought the four of us authors back together for another volume. In Unlaced, you'll remember I contributed Lucas's story, from the Knights of the Board Room series. Keeping with that theme, in Laced with Desire, I offer Peter's story, another "Knight". He meets the submissive of his dreams, only to have a wartime tragedy threaten to take her from him. It will take all his Dominant sensibilities to convince her to embrace life again and accept the love he wants to offer to her.
Contracted Works In Process/Future Works...
Vampire Queen's Return (tentative title, release date late 2011) - Jacob and Lyssa, the two characters who started the Vampire Queen series, are back! Lyssa will be exploring more of her Fae ancestry, deal with the Vampire Council, and figure out her new power dynamic with Jacob. And of course Jacob will be by her side as always, for whatever dangers and intrigues they face.
Knights of the Board Room series:
Afterlife (waiting on release date - late 2010 or early 2011 anticipated) - Jon, also known as Kensington's Archangel for his gentle, philosophical nature overlaying a will of steel, falls for a yoga instructor / physical therapist thirteen years older than him. Rachel is a closet submissive who thinks she's lost her chance to ever find the right Master, but the Knights of the Board Room are adept at changing a woman's mind.
Arcane Shot series:
This is a new mass market series I've been contracted to write in 2011. It's paranormal sensual romance, with a contemporary setting and a witch as the protagonist. Several years ago, Ruby Night Divine inexplicably left the Wiccan shop she ran with some other mundane practitioners of the faith, moved across the country and started integrating elements of Dark Magic into her craft. She supports herself by running a gun shop, her motto being "Sometimes magic comes through, sometimes it doesn't. But Smith & Wesson is always ready to come to the game." Then Derek Stormwind, her former lover and a powerful sorcerer, comes back into her life. And he's determined to get to the bottom of what happened to her - while she helps him prepare a coven to face a demon and his army of minions. No release date yet, but I'll keep you posted!
Future Story Ideas (Not yet contracted):
Knights of the Board Room series:
Ben is our last knight to find the woman of his dreams. The sharp-eyed lawyer of Kensington & Associates is the most hardcore Dominant of them all, but that doesn't dissuade Marci, Cassandra's younger sister (from Controlled Response/Unlaced anthology). She's fresh out of college and has set her sights on him. She doesn't intend to let him get away - even though she may be grabbing a tiger by the tail. I hope to work on Ben's story between other deadlines and get that to Ellora's Cave sometime in the late winter or mid-spring 2011.
Rough Canvas brought us Julie, a close friend of Marcus and Thomas. Since she’s in her late thirties and has pretty much given up on finding a good relationship, she’s told Marcus that she’d just rather hang around with gorgeous gay men, flirt with and fantasize about them, than be let down by a flesh and blood hetero male. I'm waiting for the muse to give me the hero that will change her mind about that. Whenever that happens, you know Marcus and Thomas will be there, protecting her interests and checking this guy out thoroughly. I also expect additional secondary characters from that work - Rory and Daralyn, as well as Ellen - to possibly get their own books.
The response to Mason and Jessica of Beloved Vampire was so strong, that it's possible they'll have another story line sometime in the future. The seed for a third book was suggested and the idea took off in my head, a good indication that the muse would like to sink her teeth into it at some point, so we'll see what happens with upcoming deadlines.
On Hiatus...
The recent A Mermaid's Ransom introduced Clara, Alexis's best friend. She has her eye on the brooding Dark Legion captain, Marcellus, and he's going to find himself reluctantly assigned as her guardian angel. Don't know when this work will be scheduled; right now Berkley has only renewed contracts for the vampire books and new mass market series, but we'll see how things look in the future. If you love the Daughters of Arianne series, just keep spreading the word!
Final Notes…
So right now it appears I've enough to hold me for the next couple decades (laughter). But as you can tell, priorities are always shuffling. I'll keep you posted on everything. Thank you all, as always. It's wonderful to have you as readers. Visit anytime - best wishes and happy reading!
