DAUGHTERS OF ARIANNE RE-RELEASE, AT A SALE PRICE
The Daughters of Arianne are back! A Mermaid's Kiss, A Witch's Beauty and A Mermaid's Ransom will be released officially July 31, but from June 30 until that release date, you can get all three of them for $8.97 ($2.99 apiece) at Amazon, Kobo or iBooks. While I don't have an all-in-one link for iBooks, you can find the vendor buy links for all these titles on my website here, along with excerpts, blurbs and more beautiful cover art like you see in the side bar. After July 31, they'll be the standard $4.99/each for full length novels, so grab your ebooks now! [Unfortunately, Nook doesn't offer us a pre-order option (despite repeated requests that have gone unanswered as of the date of this publication - we're trying!!), but the books will be available in that format and in print as of the July 31 release date.]
I mentioned last month that one of the perks of reviewing these books before publication was the chance to fall in love all over again with Jonah and Anna, Mina and David, and Lex and Dante. I stumbled upon lots of my favorite quotes and snippets. Like this one from A Mermaid's Ransom:
* * * * *
“Alexis,” Dante said softly.
She shook her head, closing her eyes. “Please don’t say it.”
“Not saying it does not change the truth. If I can ever understand this feeling , it is likely to be years before I learn enough of it to love another the way you do, or those around you. From what I see, trust is a large part of this feeling. Understanding. Regard. I have fought for my life, for everything that I am, every day of my life. And I have lost, often. These kind and soft things you experience every day are as foreign and suspicious to me as my world was to you.”
She’d always had trouble reading him, because so much was there. But she would decipher every feeling, offer something to each one. Comfort to his sadness, companionship to his loneliness, love to a heart that had received so little of it. Please, Goddess, she thought, give us the time. We both surrender to Your Will. Please help us.

A Mermaid's Ransom was one of the harder books I've ever had to write, because Dante came from a world exactly as he described. It was a challenge, showing realistically how he would react to things so differently from the way one of us would, and yet keep him connected to the readers so they'd empathize and cheer for his steps forward. And want to see him and Alexis find love together, of course!
There's a quote from Risque Reviews that I think fits this trilogy well: "Take the wicked seawitch from Little Mermaid, throw in a little Beauty and the Beast, and voila, with all the twists and turns only Hill can bring with her talented style." The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast both explored the sacrifices that come with an intense love for another, and I think that is an underlying theme to all three of these books. What we will do for the one we love most, and how that kind of love makes everything else work. If you haven't ever read my Daughters of Arianne trilogy, I hope you'll decide to give it a try during this special sale price time period. And if you love them, let me know. Actually, let everyone know, lol. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, GoodReads, etc. However, if you're disappointed, I want to hear about that as well, so I'll know how to make future books better for you all.
"But," you say, "I'm just not that into mermaids. Or angels." Well, I can give you another incentive to check at least one or two of them out. If you loved Marguerite in Ice Queen/ Mirror of My Soul (Books 3 and 4 of the Nature of Desire series), the hero of A Witch's Beauty is her twin brother David, who died young and reappears in this book as a fully grown up (and very hot) angel. Do you like my vampires? The third book in the trilogy, A Mermaid's Ransom, has a half-vampire/half Dark One hero, which necessitates a key appearance by Lyssa and Jacob of the Vampire Queen series.
PRETTY PICS: Plus, the Daughters of Arianne have their own Pinterest page with inspirational pics as well as teaser jpgs. If you are already a fan of the series, please feel free to SHARE those teaser jpgs and cover images far and wide!
AND A FREE SHORT: Finally, there is a free vignette revisiting Mina and David of A Witch's Beauty. It's available on my website HERE. While it may have a few spoilers, reading "Dark and Light" is a cost-free, no risk way to experience the tone and direction of these stories.
SOCIAL MEDIA NOTE: Keep a particular eye on the FB, GoodReads and Twitter platforms throughout July when these books are available for pre-order, because I'll likely be reminiscing about the writing of these stories, posting inspirational pictures and quotes, and generally sharing my love of these characters and their world.
CAI AND RAND HAVE A COVER - AND A CHAPTER ONE EXCERPT
Yep, our loner vampire and his wolf-shifter servant (who made their first appearance in Night's Templar and a subsequent guest visit in Medusa's Heart) now have their own gorgeous cover and a Chapter One excerpt out on my website. Click HERE to view and read these, respectively. Release date for Vampire's Soul is September 30, and we hope to have the preorder links up early September. I'll keep you posted. The JWH Members Only Facebook forum will also get a link to the special bonus Chapter Two excerpt at the beginning of August. This will be Book XIV of the Vampire Queen series. Don't forget Cai and Rand now have their own Pinterest page for concept shots of their characters and other story features. Click here. I've also been getting in the habit of posting random snippets and insights about the book at my FB page and the Members Only page, so if you're following either of those, I'll keep feeding you good stuff about this pair.
GUESS WHO'S COMING TO THE JWH MEMBERS ONLY FACEBOOK PAGE - CANDACE BLEVINS!!
After the highly successful visit by the fabulous Kristen Ashley, the admins agreed that having other erotic romance authors come and do page takeovers would be an excellent idea - and I agree. Our next guest is the amazing Candace Blevins!! She'll be visiting Thursday, August 3, and she'll give us two hours of her time. From 6-7pm and 9-10pm Eastern. You can find the Event Page in the JWH Members Only page sidebar, but all you need to do prior to that night is Join the Group, if you haven't already. The event will be held on that main page. Like any takeover, there will the chance to ask questions, find out what Candace is working on, thinking about, etc. Hope you'll join us that night. It's going to be a fabulous party!
UNRESTRAINED AT $5.99 U.S. PRICE
As many of you know, convincing traditional publishers to offer ebooks at the prices that indie, small press and self-publishers have long known are fair and reasonable for digital formats has been an ongoing struggle. Which is why I'm delighted to announce that Unrestrained has at last been reduced from the $11.99 ebook price to $5.99. This applies to U.S. purchases at iBooks, Kobo and Amazon, and you can see all buy links HERE. If you've been wanting to know more about Dale, the retired Navy SEAL who made a key appearance in two of the Knights of the Board Room books and the recent Nature of Desire series book Truly Helpless, this is his story, and that of his lovely Athena. You can find blurb and a Chapter One excerpt at that link. I'd grab it sooner rather than later, because I do not know if this is a permanent reduction. To my international readers, I truly wish they offered the same deal outside our borders, but I'll keep asking for that - promise!
WHAT'S AFTER VAMPIRE'S SOUL?
KNIGHT NOSTALGIA! - Knight Nostalgia is a three-novella anthology of new Knights of the Board Room series "revisits". Here's the summary on what the three novellas will be about.
Conqueror's Fantasy - many people have talked about wanting to get deeper into the head of Matt Kensington, and spend more time with him and Savannah. Years ago, in a character interview, Matt mentioned that he was going to take Savannah to a private island resort which was dedicated to BDSM lifestylers. On their last night there, he brings to life a specific, long-held fantasy of Savannah's.
Girls' Day Out - In Hostile Takeover, Ben made a serious misstep. While I can't remember where it was proposed, somewhere along the line it was suggested he make amends by taking all the K&A women out for a shopping trip. This will be what happened during that trip.
The Card Game - Some of you have pointed out that Dana and Rachel never had their "board room" initiation as Savannah and Cass did. In The Card Game, the men decide to hold a late night poker game around the table, with two very attractive centerpieces who have to do whatever the man who wins each winning hand commands. With some very interesting results...
The one drawback to getting this anthology out as close to the end of the year as possible is that my annual free vignette might have to be delayed, with the anthology coming out near Christmas instead. But I hope these stories will help win your forgiveness for that!
ACCOLADES AND KIND WORDS
I'm incredibly excited that both Medusa's Heart and Naughty Wishes were nominated for Golden Flogger Awards through the esteemed BDSM Writers' Conference. Naughty Wishes was nominated in the Menage category and Medusa's Heart in the Advanced BDSM and Paranormal categories. You can see all the nominees HERE and add to your summer reading list. I know I'll be doing that. And if you would love to go to a fun and educational conference in a great venue, the BDSM Writers' Con is one I highly recommend.
My readers energize and inspire me in so very many ways. These newsletters would be MUCH longer if I included a list of everything they do, month to month, to keep me writing, but I wanted to share this particular quote. I have an international readership, but depending on where the readers are, it can require a lot of effort to obtain books in my genre, let alone specific titles. Which is why this reader in a Middle Eastern country touched me so deeply. I have not changed the arrangement of the English in the quote because I did not want to risk misrepresenting her lovely and thought-provoking message. When I asked her about whether or not she had access to ebooks, she responded: "No we have access but it cost money and time. Joey do you have any idea how hard to read your book and not to be affected by them. We are a small country, we have many religion, tradition and definitely they don't contain erotic romance. I love your books simply because they enters the heart."
When I started down the path of writing erotic romance, I wanted to write intense love stories with emotionally driven erotic content. In short, my hope was to write stories that "enter the heart." Hearing that I've accomplished that for even one reader is better than any industry award or list designation (though those are always lovely and appreciated, too, lol). Thank you all!
CONTACTING ME - Remember, you can find me online through my website email contact link or email me directly at storywitch@PROTECTED. You can also leave a question for me under my Author Profile on GoodReads. I'm on Facebook under Joey W. Hill, and @JoeyWHill on Twitter. Thank you all so much for your support of my work!
DIDN'T GET A RESPONSE? It seems those darn online filters are becoming more and more aggressive. And don't get me started on the many ways Facebook plays tricks with my messages, lol. But responding to my readers, and doing so in a very timely manner (within 24-48 hours), is extremely important to me. So if you have sent a communication to me in any of the mediums I've mentioned - direct email, FB, GoodReads or Twitter - and have not received a response, a technical glitch has occurred. Either your communication did not get through to me, or my response did not reach you. If you suspect that's the case, use one of the alternative communication methods to send me a "Hey, Joey, I sent you a note through email (or FB, or a tweet, etc). Did you get it?" message, and we'll make sure we sort it out. I will never intentionally ignore my readers!
While we still have the option through my website to subscribe to the newsletter, in an effort to become ever more aggressive about spam, many email hosts/filters now bounce it. Regrettably, there's not a lot we can do on this side if the newsletter is hitting an email filter that is bouncing it without notifying either one of us. However, we do have some things you can try that seem to have worked for folks:
FIRST - make sure the newsletter email is part of your contact list: "newsletter@PROTECTED."
SECOND - Check whatever filters you do have for spam and the like and see what methods are available to you to ensure an email like this gets through. My newsletters have a plethora of links in them to make it easy for you to find the things I'm talking about, but the flip side of that is it can get the newsletter tagged pretty quickly as spam.
THIRD - Contact me at newsletter@PROTECTED and ask to be unsubscribed. Once we confirm with you that has been done, rather than us sending you an invitation (which can bounce for the aforementioned reasons), we have you go in to the website newsletter link and subscribe yourself - here's the link to that. If it works, you'll get an automatic invitation to confirm, and then, fingers crossed, you should be set.
FOURTH - If none of this works or all of it is just too frustrating and you want to say "screw it!" (and I can hardly blame you, lol), then just make sure you've liked my FB page or are following me on Twitter. This is because EVERY MONTH I will post the latest newsletter link on both of those, to make sure it reaches the widest number of people possible! It's the same link monthly, so if you want, just put http://storywitch.com/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi/archive/storywitchnews/newest/ as one of your Favorites. You can click on it anytime to see if an update has been posted. I post a new one every 30-45 days, give or take a few days.
