A NEW YEAR, NEW BOOKS...AND A GOOD-BYE TO THE JWH CONNECTION FAN FORUM
Over the past several years, things have been changing. In publishing and in the way we talk about books, as well as how we share info about them. On the JWH Connection fan forum, we've noticed those changes. Membership continues to grow, and we've been thrilled to see those new names! However, the activity logs show new and existing members come mostly now to read the vignettes, look at the lovely photography, and read posts, rather than to participate in social interaction. That's now understandably the realm of Facebook groups, Twitter, Pinterest, SnapChat, etc. On top of that, there have also been changes in our lives as admins and members, the leisure time and resources we have and where we spend it.
So, with a need to consolidate resources, we've come to a difficult but we feel correct decision for our future direction. As of March 15, 2017, the JWH Connection forum is going to take its final bow. But don't worry. None of us going away. Here's what will be happening:
1) The Vignettes will not be going away. The free novella downloads revisiting my characters are now available under the Cantrips series page of my website. This includes the newest one released during the holidays, "Doms and Sisters," a Knights of the Board Room novella. Just scroll beneath the compilation volumes and you'll see the full list of individual vignettes. This will be their permanent home, along with the two compilation volumes available in print and ebook with all my vignettes written through 2016 (Cantrips Volume 1 and 2).
2) In the coming weeks, the forum administrators will be planning activities and events on the @JoeyWHillFanForum Facebook page, so you can go there to locate and play with forum friends. The forum administrators are also available to you privately through their email address, Joeywhillfanforum@PROTECTED.
3) My personal interactions with my readers are something I value as much as the writing experience itself, so you are not losing that connection. You will see me appear at the JoeyWHillFanForum Facebook page whenever the admins request my participation for giveaways and other fun social events. You'll also find me daily at my own Facebook author page @JoeyWHillAuthor, and on Twitter @JoeyWHill. In addition to my GoodReads blog, where comments can be posted, I also have an Ask an Author A Question section under my GoodReads profile (link). And you'll always be able to reach me by clicking the Contact link on my website.
Two additional notes:
1) Between now and March 15, if there are posts or pictures you want to cut and paste to save in your own files for future enjoyment and memories, please go ahead and do that, because after March 15, they'll be gone.
2) We've started a thread under the Tea Leaves Lounge on the forum called JWH Connection Says Good-Bye. Jaime, Sandy and Joey have posted notes there detailing their thoughts and feelings on this and where we go from here. We hope you won't hesitate to post there as well, and ask any questions you have about the forum's closing.
Please come join us over at the JWH Connection Says Good-Bye Thread and help us bid a fond farewell to this venue. I look forward to seeing you in any and all of the other places noted. The forum admins and I thank you profusely for your support of the forum all these wonderful years!
CANTRIPS VOLUMES 1 & 2 NOW AVAILABLE
You can now own ALL the vignettes in print and ebook compilations. Cantrips: Volumes 1 and 2 are available in all the popular ebook formats and in print. Just click on the Cantrips link noted above or click the beautiful Volume 2 cover in the sidebar to see the options. If you buy the print book off Amazon, you can also get the Kindle version for free as part of the Kindle Match program. As mentioned above, the individual stories will continue to be offered for free on the Cantrips series page, never fear. Just scroll beneath the two volumes and you'll see the full list. The compilations are simply a perk to those who've always wanted to have them all together. As I write more free vignettes (which I fully intend to do), we'll release a new volume each time we have a sufficient amount of vignettes to create one. I hope you'll enjoy revisiting your favorites again and again.
I FINALLY LISTENED TO ONE OF MY BOOKS IN AUDIO!
I have a confession to make. I've NEVER listened to one of my books on audio. For me, erotic romance is best heard "in my head", and I figured it would simply be embarrassing to hear some of the lines that sound so good in my mind read aloud. Well, since I'm dealing directly with Audible on my newest releases with them, I felt I should listen to at least one by each narrator. The first I chose was Worth the Wait, read by Liz Thomson. Surprisingly, I've had the best time listening to it! I love how she handled Julie's personality and voice, and I even warmed up to how she portrayed Des. And don't get me started on Billie Dee-Lite. She nailed her/him! Anyhow, I'm going to listen to either Soul Rest or Hostile Takeover read by Maxine Mitchell next, but I finally understand why so many of you enjoy hearing these read to you. A good narrator makes all the difference. Yes, I do admit some things still made me cringe, because it's nearly impossible for certain very intense lines not to sound cheesy when spoken aloud, but that didn't detract from my overall experience. Can't wait to listen to the next one!
Here's the link to all my audio titles on Audible, and you can find these through Amazon as well.
UPDATE ON THE NEXT BOOK - TRULY HELPLESS
I'm almost done with the first draft of Regina and Marius's story, so I'm staying on track for my intended spring release. The blurb and new COVER is up on the book page on my website here, so check that out and see what you think. I love the cover, and one reader pointed out Marius has a bit of a Harry Connick, Jr. thing going on. I agree and that works for me, since i remember him so fondly in Independence Day and Hope Floats. Particularly Hope Floats. Though I also envision Marius a little bit like specific pictures I found of fighters Patrick Cote and Jonas Sulzbach. Those are on my Pinterest board for Truly Helpless. That's the lovely thing about a hero or heroine in a book. They can be a compilation of a lot of favorite images, not just one. I only recently discovered the feature on Pinterest where you all can choose pictures to suggest for my boards, and I LOVE your visions inspired by the books. Will be adding some of those in, never fear. Thank you so much for taking the time to do that. Remember you can see all the boards I've created for past books and other topics here.
If you need a reminder of the who and what of this book (grin), Truly Helpless will be the next book of the Nature of Desire series. If you'll recall, Marius is our recurring troublemaker in the series, the sub who will not be tamed. But Mistress Regina has some ideas on that. She first appeared at the auction in Branded Sanctuary. If you're following me on FB or Twitter, stay tuned for teasers, tidbits, excerpts and other inside peeks as this story unfolds. The muse has already sprung a few surprises on me as to why Marius is the way he is. And the more I get into Regina's character, the more I'm liking her and the unexpected strategy she takes with Marius.
Can't wait to share their story with you. Hopefully by the next newsletter, I'll have a Chapter One excerpt to share!
A SERIES OF FIRSTS?
For my January 2017 GoodReads blog posts, I discussed "firsts". Specifically, how a bad first always seems to have a good first that balances it. You can find the post HERE and see what you think. If you want to keep track of when and what I blog about, you can bookmark this link and/or follow me on GoodReads. You're always welcome to leave comments, as well as suggestions for future topics.
HAVE YOU CHECKED THE AUTHOR'S WEBSITE?
"I have a question." Answer: "Have you checked the author's website?"
I am ALWAYS delighted to hear from my readers, and I never mind answering your questions. However, about 90% of the general questions I receive on email can be quickly answered on my website, www.storywitch.com. And the cool thing is you get your answer in the time it takes you to do a couple clicks, versus having to type up your question and send it to me, then wait for me to emerge from my writing cave and check my email.
A lot of authors experience this now. Because we have so much more of a presence at FB, Twitter, and the like, it's easy to forget that most authors still maintain a website where you can quickly get info. On my site, you can not only find BLURBS and FREE EXCERPTS for every book I've published, you can find SERIES ORDER, including recommendations on which ones can stand alone or need specific titles to be read first. Under the In the Works page, you'll find information about UPCOMING RELEASES and what's percolating (the popular "will you ever write a book about so-n-so" question would be answered there).
Just go to my website, www.storywitch.com, and enjoy your visit. It is specifically and deliberately designed not to be flashy or confusing. Just look at the drop down menus at the top for what you're seeking.
CONTACTING ME - Remember, you can find me online through my website email contact link or email me directly at storywitch@PROTECTED. You can also leave a question for me under my Author Profile on GoodReads.
